This place is an absolute joke. The only good part about it was a short wait time and the one nurse with blonde hair and glasses. The nurse, Kim, was absolutely sweet, kind, attentive, and very understanding.
Upon the dr finally coming into the room 10-15 minutes after the nurse, she instantly seemed annoyed with my presence. To give you some background, I've been getting strep throat multiple times a year since I was 10. Now, I managed to avoid it the last three years but a few weeks ago I got it once again. I pleaded with the Dr to prescribe my penicillin as any other antibiotic does not resolve my strep (to be clear this interaction www with a different facility) the dr still chose to prescribe me amoxicillin, so several weeks later my strep is back. I feel the early symptoms, what typically happens for me before a strep culture will test positive, so I decide I'll go in. I decide to go to this place because it's close and their hours are reasonable.
The waiting room is clean, the office is nice, the nurse is sweet, the receptionist is cold and forgettable, then I get to see the Dr and she tells me salt water and ibuprofen and to come back in 2-3 days if my symptoms persist. Knowing my body like I do from having this so many times, a few days means by then I will be in agony. The dr refused to prescribe antibiotics saying it was viral, which means I wasted a co-pay on "gargle some salt water." For someone who's had this for 15 years of their life more than once a year typically, don't you think I'd know that? The dr acted like I was ignorant, again disregarding that I've told her multiple times that I've been through this many times. She asks me thinks that are dumb considering how many times I've had this like do I throw away my tooth brush, do I sanitize my house, etc. I tell her every time I get it I change the sheets, sanitize all surfaces, throw away my toothbrush head from my electronic toothbrush, and shower to try to prevent re-infecting myself or passing it to my fiancé. She refused to give me antibiotics stating that you can build a tolerance to them, which I understand, but considering I went three years without them, I'm sure taking them now isn't going to be the time that they just stop working with my body. She informed me my strep culture was negative, but I assumed it would be considering it only started hours ago. My strep cultures rarely test positive unless it's 24-48 hours in, and by then I have very advanced symptoms that even make my eyes hurt.
TLDR don't go here, go to a UMC quick care, they're busier, but are not too far away and will actually listen and treat your symptoms properly.
I immediately went down the street to UMC, the Dr assessed my issue and saw what was wrong, treated it properly and I got what I needed to get better to be able to be able to work my job and not have to call out. Dr was kind, courteous, quickly inspected my throat and could see the puss and irritation forming, prescribed me penicillin and I was on my way quickly. Go to the UMC quick care on Marks st instead, don't waste your time.
