There's a lot to like at this little restaurant and this is the second time that I have stayed in Charlotte while on the road.
This restaurant had great reviews and we thought that we would try it.
Pulling up, the parking lot was big but mostly empty but then again, it was getting late in the evening. As a BBQ lover, one can really appreciate the little touches they use such as the company motto, we cook true whole pig!
We walked in and we're greeted right away, which is always a plus. You walk into a messy cashier area and into a wall that has a plate of dirty dishes as it goes into the kitchen. On the left is dining room.
After a few minutes, a lovely lady greeted us and led us to our table. She explained the menu, was very hospitable. She left us for a short bit and after as we were reviewing the menu, she came back with hot hush puppies for us to munch on and cold glasses of ice water as it was a hot day outside. It's this level of service that makes you remember places like this.
We ordered an assortment of menu items to try. My stepson ordered the small BBQ plate, my wife and I ordered the half chicken. This came with an assortment of choices like coleslaw, mac and cheese, hush puppies, etc.
The two bathrooms are small but clean in the back of the dining room but they service only one at a time.
It didn't take long for the food to arrive and the BBQ sauce is very vinegary but upon reading the definition of North Carolina BBQ, that should be what to expect. This flavour profile is not one I cherish, if it were more subtle, perhaps it would be more to my taste.
The restaurant was very open to my opinions but I told them that They would have to read about it online.
Overall, the bill was in line with what we have been paying for meals of 5 on our trip
So, service is a 5/5
Food 3/5 probably because of my taste preferences
Overall, me and my family will probably not return but definitely worth a try if you're looking for North Carolina BBQ in the area.
