The resort itself is very nice: beautiful scenery & a little rustic. The rooms are small, but comfortable. Do not believe the Wi-Fi advertisement: we either couldn't connect to the open network, or we received no signal from it..
Our main complaint came with the food. They have one restaurant in the hotel, but you need to make reservations, which no one tells you. The rib-eye, which costs $26, is on par with a $15 one you'd get a Chile's or Applebees. The morning we were going to eat breakfast, I guess one of the cooks overslept or called out sick because the restaurant didn't open until an hour after it was supposed to. After we sat down, it took our waitress almost 40 minutes to get our food to us (we were one of the first people in). In fact she was so absent, that another waiter/host (I think Rick was his name - he was very helpful!) had to assist us. Even after all that waiting, the pancakes they brought my daughter were raw inside. We waited for our waitress to check in on us, but she never did. So we flagged Rick down again and he took the plate away and had them deduct that meal from our bill.
If we hadn't done the Valpak promotion (which included the cost of two dinners and two breakfasts, we would have been upset over the quality, cost, and service.
I still recommend staying there if you want to get out of Las Vegas and do some good hiking.
