I have never had a negative experience at a Pottery Barn, so I am hopeful that my negative experience at this store was a fluke. I was excited to shop for Christmas bedding and decorations and particularly so because I had a 20% off coupon for that weekend. I first went upstairs to the bedding section and found two employees yelling at each other. While I found that to be uncomfortable, I didn't think too much about it. I was looking for a specific sheet set and duvet cover and shams that I found online but could find only the duvet cover in the store. I tried to approach several associates but no one even acknowledged my existence. I stood in the bedding section some more, then in line at the customer register center, and still no one even said hello to me or asked if I needed assistance. I thought maybe I would have better luck downstairs but the same thing happened: I was passed by many employees and not one even acknowledged my presence. In fact, one female associate brushed by me in a hurry without even saying "excuse me" or apologizing for bumping into me. Perhaps it was because I was in gym clothes and not dressed as if I had money to spend. Regardless of the reason, I finally gave up and left the store after trying to get help for 30 minutes. I left feeling devalued and like I wasn't worth Pottery Barn's time. This was extremely disappointing since I was so excited to decorate and interested in a number of items I previously saw online. I have never had a bad experience at a Pottery Barn store but this really has tainted my image of the company. For other customers' sake, I hope that this was a one-time incident and not reflective of the Scottsdale Quarter's general customer service.
