In April 2017, I took my 2005 4Runner in to have the cracked dash replaced under warranty. It took four months to get the dash, but I was glad the Toyota extended to warranty on this. When I took it in, I asked that they only replace the dash, because I had heard from other owners that were unhappy about some of the recall actions that Toyota has done, such as modifying the accelerator pedal and ECU re-flashes. When I picked up my 4Runner, I learned that they did every Toyota recall action, including the infamous gas pedal chop and ECU re-flash. (Brake modification) I had earlier asked that those actions NOT be done. The management did a good job at easing the situation. They gave me a loaner car and offered some complementary maintenance and an upgrade (with my permission) to my 4Runner. They replaced the modified gas pedal with a complete new unit, but the pedal was as small as the parking brake pedal and I hated it. I was able to get an after market pedal at my own expense and it's now similar to the way it was. I know there are positive reviews of Avondale Toyota and I would hope that going forward, they would not do unauthorized work or changes to other owners vehicles. To some, I'm sure this may seem like a trivial thing and that I'm over-reacting, but to me it was a violation and a violation of my trust. I'm not angry and I don't carry a grudge, but it's unlikely I would trust them with my Toyota again. My advise... Be wary.
