We got a Groupon to try this place out. $16 for two cheese burgers and two fries. We also got an order of chicken strips which were $10.50 for 6 pieces. The restaurant is modern meets classic diner, the menu is large and has a lot of choices. There are several posters around the restaurant sporting claims that fatburger ingredients, flavours, freshness, etc.. are better than other burger chains in Canada but I'm not sure I'm convinced! The burger itself probably gets the lowest score, the patty was a bit dry, unfortunately and the toppings and bun weren't particularly amazing, although they do offer a nice selection of free toppings, including onion rings. The fries were ok, despite the claim that they're hand-cut, skin on, they actually kind of tasted like from-the-freezer fries. They weren't terrible, they just didn't have that rustic fresh fry taste like you'd get from a chip truck. The saving grace were really the chicken strips, a bit costly at $10.50 for 6 pieces, they are hand breaded right in front of your eyes and fried to a golden crisp. They were flavourful and crunchy on the outside and the chicken was moist on the inside. We tried the honey mustard and honey garlic sauces and both were above average, the honey garlic was particularly delicious. If we were to go back I'd go for those. The service was a bit strange, I'm not sure if the girl at the front desk was new or had an English language barrier but she had to keep asking another associate for help whenever we asked for anything which slowed the process a bit. It wasn't bad but wasn't particularly engaging I don't think I'd be back to be honest, definitely worth a try if you're in the area and are able to get the Groupon deal, otherwise I'd stick with five guys.
