While Matt is primarily a jazz guitarist, he can teach multiple styles, whether acoustic or electric.
As a beginner, I needed to learn everything about music. While I had studied with another teacher for three months before going to Matt, I learned more in the first two weeks with Matt than I did in the three months with my previous teacher.
Starting with basic strumming and chords, Matt introduced me to the concept of music theory and progressed to how instruments play together.
I found Matt to be a patient, generous teacher who was willing to tailor my sessions to exactly what I wanted to learn, whether it was learning a new song or focusing on a technique with which I was struggling.
With Matt's tutelage, I have found a new appreciation for music. Not just when I'm playing, but when I listen as well. I hear so much more in the music and can better understand what the musicians are trying to express.
