Denis (yes with one N) was the tech sent to my home. He called to let me know when he was on his way and arrived exactly when he said he would. He immediately greeted me and was highly professional and knowledgeable. I told him about the noise I was hearing and he started testing and evaluating the system, explaining things and keeping me informed with results he was finding. Everything was straight forward, no games, no ambiguity, and this was very much appreciated due to my limited knowledge of HVAC.
Turns out some kind of transfer switch was corroded and failing, and it was the source of the humming and noise that I was hearing. Denis didn't pressure me, he just gave me the facts, and I made the decision to replace the switch. Everything else checked out fine, and he even gave me some tips about how to keep the unit clean and highly functional in order to extend it's life cycle.
