My husband and I visited Fright Dome a couple nights prior to Halloween, and it was really cool! We're from Tucson, AZ, where the most exciting thing to do all year (practically) is go to a lame 'Old Tucson Nightfall' haunted town..... Ahem... Fright Dome BLOWS Tucson's Nightfall out of the water, no contest. We were very pleasantly surprised to see something that was so well orchestrated and full of gusto - meaning the characters really seemed to be having fun in their roles as creepy clowns, etc. There were 6 haunted houses, a foggy haze all around, and plenty of spooky mazes, however we didn't get into any of those because in the 4 hours we spent in the dome, we were riding the rides! We LOVE roller coasters, and though the coasters there are small-ish (by necessity), they are still lots of fun. Sure, there were lines, but it wasn't a big deal. Patience is a virtue, as they say. While waiting in the line for the 4D Friday the 13th show, we were entertained by a guy who was attempting to hide from a couple clowns who were intent on staring at him from a close range. While in line for one of the carnival rides, a crazy clown with huge red hair literally jumped up to the second story level my husband and I were standing on and surprised the heck out of me when I turned around to find his face an inch from mine. I really thought I was safe up there! These clowns know no bounds... So, if you go (I think you should give a shot), expect to pay a decent amount for entrance (Rides are included!), be patient and plan to spend multiple hours to get on the rides and see the haunts, and beware that statues may actually be living beings who will lunge at you as you walk by unwittingly. Honestly, I was very impressed with the makeup and prosthetic applications on the characters.. Whoever did that job deserves a high five. P.S. Do not wear a costume! They don't allow them.. for good reason. P.P.S. Pennywise was there, and Toto, too! If you haven't seen 'It,' watch that film before you go. It's an oldie but goody! That's all I have to say about that.
