I recently stayed for 4 nights during a 10-night trip to vegas. I have mixed feelings about it. As some have mentioned, I began to feel as if I were being nickel and dimed more than I should considering the overall cost of staying there. I'd guess that my standard King room might have cost me on average about $325-$350 per night. It was fine but relatively small when compared to other rooms I had stayed in on the trip (e.g. Delano). I had a minor problem at check-in that was not sue to them and they handled it reasonably (two prior hotels had run my charges through on my card and it had pushed me over some daily card-use limit I had not known I even had and so they were unable to run an incidental's charge through in advance). They waited until day 2 to run it and all was fine). That said, they do some things that are irritating. First off, the cabana process is not friendly. You make your request and IF they decide you get a cabana they call you around 8AM the day of and you need to go down and pay for it then. This makes it very difficult to make solid plans with friends and family for the day when you simply do not know if you even will have the cabana. That said, the cabana was quite nice. Unlike others I rented on this trip, your fee does not go towards food and drink purchases (the base charge not including tip and taxes etc was $300). You get a fruit plate and some bottled water and soda but any other purchases are additional but if you only plan on say $200 worth of food and drink then it is comparable to the other locations I experienced (Monte Carlo and Delano). I found the bar-staff to be quite good - a little stand-offish until you have spoken to/with them a bit but quite friendly after that. I have a platinum Mlife card which made some things less frustrating than they may have otherwise been (e.g. you can get relatively quick access to the Buffet and a couple of other eating places) but still I just had this sense that if they could charge or over-charge for almost anything they did. For example, after spending close to $3k on room, cabanas and food charges they still wanted $7 to print out a damn boarding pass for my flight out - I mean really? Come on... Food options were exceptional. I only tried the buffet, the cafe, Lago and Noodles but all were fine with Lago and Noodles serving some of the best food I experienced on my trip. Noodles in particular was well-priced and very good and Lago was the best meal I have had in many years - a must-experience if you like quality cuisine. The hotel itself is quite crowded and traffic flow through the casino often suffers from obnoxious souls who never seemed to learn the rules of walking down an aisle or corridor... I also noticed that regardless of the time or table minimum, the pit bosses could care less about your card unless you are dropping a minimum of $25 as your ante/initial bet. Table staff were efficient and only snooty a couple of times though more than I saw at other casinos. All in all it was a fine place but I think they may be close to jumping the proverbial shark. With new and nice places opening all around it ( Aria Cosmo etc.) it is no longer the single sparkling jewel it once was though it is still quite nice.
