I was pretty excited to stay in the new W tower and booked a great online deal on the SPG site. We arrived at the SLS and went to the SLS check in where they informed me we didn't have a reservation. In a panic I went to our SPG account and then they showed me the hallway to the W Tower. The check in is right next to the 70's styled Living Room bar. The hallway to your room feels like walking through a haunted house just add some cobwebs to the dark corridors and there you go. The room was very small compared to the large casino hotels I've stayed at in Vegas. They are going for a French shabby chic design. I liked the white pleather couch but it's a bit uncomfortable to sit on. I was glad our reservation was for only 1 night. They did honor my late 3pm check out request and gave us 2 free drink tickets for the living room. The living room had yummy cocktails.
I had just come from the Vdara for 3 nights and the rooms are suites and much larger with nice views. At the W we had a view of construction. Considering that the Vdara was only about $30 more a night and has a pool that is still open and much larger rooms with a better location I would choose Aria and Vdara over the W. I was not a fan of the location of the W. We took an Uber to get to better areas of the strip.
