I finally got to Five Points after helping a friend launch his kayak in Braddock. He needed me to drive his car home, so I decided to take a detour here! Any bakery selling a baguette can be judged more or less on that alone, and the baguette at Five Points is stunning: crispy, crackly crust! Creamy, tender crumb! And the tips come down to a point, so they usually end up extra dark--delicious! The baguette here is less picture perfect than what you might find and Gaby et Jules, but given that it's 100% produced on-site, it's the clear winner for me. And it's only $2! I've also had their croissant (amazing), a chocolate orange muffin (moist and baked just right!), and their cardamom roll (imagine a cinnamon roll but with cardamom and orange zest), and I loved them all. The ham sandwich I had on their baguette was delightful, too--the baguette wasn't so hard that it hurt to eat it. I will return over and over and over!
