Make sure you check into the details of the work before you pay. I was quoted over $600 to have an ignition replaced. I thought that was a little high so I called my dad who has worked on cars but lives in another state so could only check on prices for me. I found out that with the price of the part and the tow they gave me,(tow was $70) that it would only cost roughly $200 because the part was only $112 at auto zone. So were they trying to charge me $400 in labor? Maybe it was just the guy working that day who was trying to score some extra cash from someone he thought was an easy target. Because when my fiancé went in to pick up my car because we'd decided to just do it on our own and pay for the tow only, HE was able to talk the guy there that day down to $300. Maybe is wasn't a sexist thing, but it sure felt like a typical girl doesn't know what's what situation. Like I said, maybe it was just that guy, and I understand marking up to account for haggling, but come on! If I hadn't the sense to check into things, I would have paid twice as much for the job. Everything else with the work has been fine. The tow came fast, nothing else has gone wrong with the repair, but I thought I should warn other customers about this shady behavior.
