My husband and I moved in last August and everything started out completely fine. Theresa, the landlord was very nice and polite and made sure we knew to go to her with any issues. The first issue didn't arise until the first of this year.
In January, we had multiple power outages randomly throughout the day. We were never made aware of the power outages and they would last for multiple hours. At one point, half of our apartment's power did not turn back on. I called once a day for three days and kept reaching voicemail until the third day the voicemail box was full (I'm assuming because other tenants were calling as well). I, then, found the emergency maintenance number where I, finally, had someone sent out to help us. A few days later, I received a text from Theresa saying she was out of the office because she had the flu. I'm still confused on why there was no one available to check the voicemail or answer the calls for almost an entire week.
Another issue we had, above our shower there was black mold starting to grow as well as a small crack that would get larger by the weeks. We called to have someone come look at it but the day they came, we were not expecting them and were not home. Theresa called me and told me she will send someone out the very next day. Three weeks later, we had not heard from anyone and the crack in our bathroom ceiling was starting to fill with water from the tenants above and drip into our bathroom. I called emergency maintenance and had someone come out to fix it. They fixed it within a few hours and said they would have to come back the next day to bleach out the black mold that's grown. We have not seen or heard from anyone in over a week to fix the black mold on our ceiling or the basketball size crack that has formed from the leak.
The final issue that has been the final straw with this apartment complex happened this morning. I received a text message from Theresa at 8:00 am telling me our power will be out today because they're cutting down a tree. I thanked her for the update but asked if she could get back to me on what time this will be happening because my husband and I have an important conference late afternoon and still needed to go home to iron a few things. She was very rude and short with me and said she has no idea. I politely asked her again if she could find this out for me because we only had a small window of time and we were counting on having electric at our apartment. At first, she told me she could not find out but followed with "I check for you". Around 2:00 PM I had not heard from Theresa so I politely asked again if she had heard from anyone about a time frame. She was very rude and curt and said she already answered me and then replied with the date our lease ends.
Disappointed is an understatement if I am asked about my feelings towards Parkway Arms. I am beyond frustrated at the customer service and hospitality and feel unsafe in my apartment. Lakewood is a beautiful town and I hope to whoever is reading this finds a better place to live than Parkway Arms.
