After weeks of dreaming of and pining for a taste of these doughnuts, I drove by one day and impulsively ditched my husband and our cranky infant at the curb in the car and made a quick dash into this shop. It was around midday on a Saturday and all advertised flavours for the day appeared to still be in stock (though the supply of Caramel Salt 'n Pepa appeared to be well-depleted). I ordered up three of the daily flavours that had caught my eye on Von's facebook page: Pucker Up Sucker (meyer lemon), Crème Brûlée, and One Night Stand (margarita-inspired). All three were raised doughnuts (which I prefer to the "cake" style) and were nice, light, fluffy doughnuts. I do wish they had the very slight crisp to the exterior that my favourite, Doughnut Plant, doughnuts have but the flavours were unique. The Crème brûlée was definitely my favourite, with the One Night Stand being a wee bit salty for my liking. Loved that the shop was free of the crowds and air of pretension that people seem to complain of at other places (i.e., Gloryhole). The owners are in the shop and seem friendly and approachable. So glad to see more of these types of trendy, niche businesses popping up in the neighbourhood.
