I was really looking forward to dining here... If there is one thing I truly don't mind splurging on it is good quality dining. To begin, I loved my long stem rose, traditionally classy. Nice touch. Problem#1: I was looking forward to a glass of wine to find they only have house wines available in glasses. All others are bottle only. That is a bit inconvenient for me, since my bf doesn't drink wine and a bottle would absolutely have me in ruins if I were brave enough to try to drink it alone. But ok, not a huge deal. Problem #2: My bf ordered 12yr or 18yr Jameson whichever they had available. A few moments later he came back with a glass of whiskey on the rocks, and informed us that they only had regular Jameson so that's what he brought out. Yuck. This set the mood for a bit of a disappointment right out of the gate... We ordered our meals and continued our evening festivities without further awkward moments but when the food came out I was left a bit disappointed again. Problem #3: I ordered the rack of lamb, which was actually really tough and not even the slightest tender at all. My bf ordered a steak and after trying a bite it was ok, but not nearly the quality of cut I would expect from such a renowned steak house. The rest of the night was fine. Great service and later the server explained to us that the mix up with the whiskey was that he was not very knowledgeable about the difference between the whiskeys and had been given the drink to serve by the bartender so he simply went with it. Which is understandable. I paid the bill, tipped accordingly regardless and called it a night. The experience was superb as far as service was concerned but the food was more like quality I would expect from somewhere very generic. I've tasted better food at BJ's for 1/4 of the bill. We have been to Joe Vicari's Andiamo at The D casino just around the corner from here and it was by far a better steakhouse by a long shot! Downtown in general has some amazing dining but this place definitely fell short of the list of favorites. Doubt I'll ever be back.
