St. James Corner has a great decor and atmosphere but under the surface it is just another run of the mill Fridays or Chilies. Overpriced drinks, mediocre food, and staff that is happy to collect a paycheck but has no real skin the game.
We ordered a few mint juleps which end up costing us something like 90 Loonies with a Caesar and flatbread appetizer. Totally ridiculous. The bar was out of the house bourbon but instead of stepping us up to the top shelf stuff they charged us full price for it. We had been bar hopping all weekend and just wanted to relax in one spot so we stuck it out. In hindsight we should have moved on sooner.
With the many great options in the area I would consider someplace else.
We sure won't be going back.
