I put my parents up here when they were visiting me from NY because it is literally the only decent hotel by my house and lord knows I was not driving to Scottsdale day and night to chauffeur them around the valley. It was my parents' 35th wedding anniversary and I let the concierge know upon checking in. He sent a very pretty arrangement of truffles, chocolate covered fruit, and champagne to the room, complimentary!
The hotel itself is beautiful, but I thought the rooms were not really worth the $400 a night I paid (this was mid-May). The room was just a lot smaller than I expected, though beautifully decorated. My mother loved her spa experience and we all loved dining at Ko'Sin for brunch.
There is a little boat that shuttles you to and from the casino, providing a relaxing and scenic ride. If you are smart you will just take the boat ride for the fun of it because the actual casino is a friggin dump. I would not recommend this place for any type of romantic getaway, which is unfortunate because it has such a seemingly peaceful and scenic atmosphere. The pool was totally overrun with rugrats. Screaming, jumping, running, you name it. Even worse is the hotel caters to this by showing kids movies by the pool at night. I can only think that this had something to do with the time of year? I hope so. Overall the staff was wonderful, the food was incredible, and I would not hesitate to recommend this place to any of my future out of town guests.
