I am so glad i found this firestone. Saved me some serious $'s.
I had a coupon for an oil change, wheel alignment and tire rotation at a treadquaters in pineville and so i had that done. Right after this was done, i felt the steering was a little too tight and a little too much road noise which made me uncomfortable. I went next a few days later so i can have this checked again and they said that i had bad bearings. They said i needed to have the wheel bearings for the front tires changed and quote me $450 for each wheel so a grand total of $900 for the two wheels. I drove back home a little whoozy.
As soon as i got back home, i looked up the closest firestone as a second opinion and spoke to Tom. He asked me what happened and after hearing what i had to say, he said that doesnt sound right and asked me to stop by before he left for that day. I didnt waste any time and i went in 30 minutes later and he drove the car around the block with me and explained that if a wheel bearing was bad, i would hear sounds when putting "stress" on the wheels while cornering (Which is something i didnt hear). I also had other concerns which he addressed. He could have very easily recommended changing something (and i would have most likely done it as well!!) but he was completely honest and said i didnt have to change anything now because it sounded and drove fine. He also had the car raised up and inspected the wheels and said the reason it felt tight was because the tires had worn out on one side that this was causing the unusual tightness because of the alignment.
His only recommendation was to buy two new tires if i wanted to get rid of the road noise. He didnt charge for this analysis and i walked out a very happy customer. I would go back to this firestone anytime as long as tom's still on the team. So make sure you ask for Tom when you need something.
