I've been drawn to Army/Navy surplus stores since I was a kid, even though the closest I've come to being in the Service was 2 years of ROTC in college. That being said, read the name of this place. Hip Hop Shoe Shop?!?! I'm sold, dude. Inside, you will find a bewildering array of kit, from BDUs of different colors, sizes and material to boots, rucksacks, MREs, and emptied out grenades and claymores. Mad Man also has great deals on Dickies and Docs, racked in the back of the store. NOTE: Keep a mental tally going, as there is no bar code scanner and all transactions are rung up by hand. Saves confusion and misunderstandings at checkout. Also, if you happen to be an aspiring separatist cult leader, the ATF negotiator will tease you mercilessly if you can't even do simple math. Just a thought. Even if you're not the "rugged, outdoorsy, squeal-like-a-pig" type of shopper, if you apply a bit of imagination you can find something in here to suit your needs. Some examples: 1. That stuffy LL Bean bag won't adequately haul your kid's skateboard, nunchakus, and machete all in one trip? Get a field-grade rucksack, available in several sizes! Located in the left rear tier, beside the Plaid Shirt Extravaganza! 2. Overpaid bully at work getting on your case? Slash the tires on his/her Escalade the proper way with a folding titanium Gerber 8" serrated blade! 3. Hubby's Taco Bell farts keeping you up nights? Now both of you can sleep in relative comfort with a K-1 Military Gas Mask (Respirator - Now with drinking apparatus!) These are but a few examples of everyday usage. Remember - You are only limited by your lack of imagination! Stop by and check it out...you just might find yourself walking out with several black bags' worth of tactical goodies.
