I traveled to Phoenix for a long weekend and some spring training baseball. I reserved a SUV a couple of days before I got there because of the drastically reduced price. One day before I left for Phoenix, I checked in on Payless as I had never heard of this rental company. I was immediately concerned having read through some awful reviews. Thinking ahead to my arrival of long lines, added taxes and fees without my consent, and no car for me despite having a reservation, I seriously considered cancelling all together and paying substantially more for a brand with better ratings.
I didn't experience anything included in the bad reviews. I arrived at the rental car location at around 2pm on a Thursday to zero line and was immediately given the vehicle I had reserved. I was in and out on the road in about 5 minutes in a clean, fully fueled car.
I have zero complaints about returning the vehicle either. Overall, a great experience.
