After months of hearing about this place I finally decided to check it out with my friends last Friday. The music is cool but the atmosphere and crown are an odd mix. Let me clarify myself... Liberty Grand owns Tattoo Rock Parlor as well as the not so trendy Velvet Underground (ironically I am not sure that most of the people I saw at Rock Parlor even know who the Velvet Underground are!). My argument is that both places have similar concepts with WAY different executions: Velvet is grimy, raw, nonchalant fun and has a hint of goth whereas Tattoo Rock Parlor is the uber polished, mild version with a $10 cover! It's almost as if this were a top 40's bar in clubland momentarily disguised as a Rock Bar! All my snarky observation aside, the place was fun and the music was great... ranging from Pulp to Guns and Roses.
