Of all the places of Sushi I have been to, Sushi Ken stays as my favorite from the beginning to the end. However, I would usually be happy to give this place 5 stars, but for some reason, I'm a bit unhappy.
Pros:
Sushi Ken's fish is extremely fresh, and the waiters show their best behavior when serving us. Unfortunately, the waiters strain a little to keep up with the constant ordering (this place is exasperatingly crowded during dinner time) and I give them credit for that. You can save A LOT OF MONEY if you look at any of the whiteboards posted along the walls of the restaurant. We ordered the Hamachikama entrée(??-steamed yellowtail, at least that was what I found when I looked it up). It includes a giant piece of cooked yellowtail with radish, a crispy California roll, pieces of tuna sashimi, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and an orange for only about $14. It even comes with your choice of soup or soybeans. It's a lot to eat, and we can hardly finish it when two people share the lot. The sushi boats are also decent for their size, though they can be extremely pricey, since one boat costs $60(and in case you're wondering, you don't keep the boat.) The hot/cold soba (or ramen) comes with a mini chirashi on the house (you can choose something different) for $15. They also serve certain rolls for only $5, and all of these are listed in the whiteboards (besides the boat). The bathrooms are fairly decent as they keep them clean, and for some reason, I noticed a Febreeze bottle sitting on top of the toilet tank even though there is an air freshener plugged into the wall. No wonder it smelled like baked cookies in there.
Cons:
Unfortunately, their location is small, and due to the popularity of the restaurant, there can be a bit of a waiting time. There is a rip in the carpet, but that doesn't influence my eating in any way. They only have one cashier, so sometimes I see a huge pile of checks on the table next to the cash register. Unless you're a SERIOUS regular/friend of theirs, they don't have the time to greet or say goodbye to you. The staff are extremely rushed, but they do treat every customer equally. They simply need to expand their location, hire more workers, and get more tables.
Obviously, I'm coming back. This is the best sushi restaurant in my area, even though it is very cramped inside. I highly recommend this place to anyone who reads this. But come early, because like I said...it's crazy in there during 7-8 pm.
