Bowlero North Scottsdale just made bowling cool again. Not just a little cool but Jeff Bridges as "The Dude" cool.
From the moment you approach the building you're going to know that you are not walking into the old school bowling alleys of the past. This is new, fun, loud and brand new = clean! If you bowled years ago, you probably like me remember bowling meant going to an old, run down bowling alley filled with the smell of stall beer and cigarette smoke. Well, if you share that memory with me, go ahead and toss it out, as this is modern and brand new.
Inside Bowlero the music is pumping, chandeliers are glowing, their is an airstream trailer at the restaurant, along with neon lights glowing throughout. Each lane has a large screen tv at the end of the lane and their is nice surfboard table surrounded by a nice CLEAN couch.
The only thing old or vintage about Bowlero is the old "cherry" Mustang convertible parked in front of the restaurant.
The arcade is a little pricey and the idea of being charged $1 for the privilege of getting a card so you can spend money on the arcade games seems pretty tacky but ok. The games are cool but expect them to be $$$.
We did not enjoy any food while we were there, as we had come directly from dinner. It looked good and smelled good.
We tried to go back last Friday but they were closed for the grand opening. We were greeted by some super nice people outside informing us of the inconvenience. They directed us to a nearby lane and we discovered that Bowlero owns both Brunswick and AMF Lanes.... seems to me Bowlero has this dialed in and this is the way bowling will be moving forward.
Sidenote: the lanes at Bowlero are shorter than regulation, so that means several leagues will not be able to roll there. For those of us that are not league bowlers, including myself, I see this as a great thing!
We are heading back soon!
