Great place to get lost in... There's something very special about this particular location for me and it reminds me very much of my childhood. Each year my parents would send me off to Wrightwood, CA for the best week of my childhood for many years. The pine aroma in the air does this to me every time. This trail is at an incline the entire time. You'll feel it afterwards. About 4 miles round trip, it takes you to a water chute (by no means a waterfall). The walk up and into the narrower part of the canyon is a lot of fun. Depending on which time of year you go, you may not be able to get to the very end. On my recent trip 3/18/17 we weren't able to get past all the high snow but hiking for just nearly 3 miles in was still very much worth it. The water was also fiercely running down the mountain and you'll be crossing the creek several times so plan to get a little wet. I also enjoyed the snow everywhere and would grab a handful each time I got hot and put some down my shirt. The perfect way to cool off! It was 87 degrees in Vegas and only 62 degrees up in the mountains. If you ever want to escape the heat, this is a great option as it's about 40 minutes away from Vegas. This trail is pet friendly.
