My four day car rental went rom $99 (booked through Southwest Airlines) which promotes Dollar Rent A car as a "partner. I was told I was eligible for an upgrade. That upgrade cost me $$$. I was charged for liability insurance $117.96), frequent flies surcharge $6.00), road safe ($27.96), upgrade $200) Customer facility charge ($24), optional coverage ($117.96) . A total of $393.22 in taxes/fees and options. Called Southwest, as a partner and booking agent, to complain and they would not address the issue . Called Dollar and waited 15 minutes on hold to then be told it is the policy at ALL LOCATIONS to not discuss the charges. Per customer service, it IS THE POLICY OF THE COMPANY TO CHARGE THE CUSTOMER FOR ALL ADDITIONAL CHARGES AND THEY DO NOT HAVE TO TELL THE CUSTOMER. The obligation is on the customer to actively deny and dispute any charges when they are at the service counter.
