Best sushi around! I have visited a ton of sushi joints and until I stumbled upon this place I didn't know what a real sushi place was. The chefs are very personable and I felt right at home. Many times, I visit them for happy hour by myself however, I feel like family and the chefs actually remember me when I return and I keep coming back... The chefs are extremely creative and will make rolls on the fly. I simply have to tell them what I am craving and they create something amazing based on what I want. I have not experienced many sushi places that will customize everything. I do not even ask for a menu anymore as they allow me to create my "own" menu. This is a family owned place. No chains which I try avoid. The family cares about the quality, service, and actually gets excited about their restaurant. They want to please the customer and are always educating me on where they get their fish, what was just flown in and what they think I should try. (Yep they remember what I had and like in the past. That's what I call customer service! The fish is incredibly fresh. I was not a big sashimi fan until I started eating at Yume. They have White Tuna that you cannot find at every sushi joint, as it is my understanding that the shelf life is only 12 hours. They have a seared Albacore that is accompanied by a very light mustard sauce that is a perfect pair. One of my favorite roll is the TNT, which has these warm huge bay scallops on top without the globs of mayo so many places use to bake their sushi toppings. The other is the Naughty Girl that was created for me, as I wanted a "fried element" in my roll. They took chopped fresh Ahi Tuna that was finely chopped, rolled them into balls, lightly batter and fried them, cut them in half and toped them on a roll with jalapenos, asparagus, avocado and cucumber. You don't like jalapenos I am sure they will customize it just for you. They also have sushi for the non-fish lovers that include a killer grilled ribeye roll. Now I can get my boyfriend to visit there, as he is not a big fan of what he calls "bait". The prices are amazing. They have a variety of sushi during lunch and happy hour that are 5 dollars and they actually consist of raw fish not just a cucumber. The ambience is just my style. I am not looking for a meat market place that happens to serve sushi. I want a place that I feel comfortable at with friends or by myself. I am comfortable in my skin at Yume. It is a great place for families also. Finally yet importantly, they have a VIP club for customers (like me) who frequent Yume often. I got an incredible loyalty coin that is beautifully designed that allows me to get happy hour prices all day long. What restaurant gives you happy hour prices all day? Bottom line is you have to try the place. Its food, service and passion brings me back every time.
