Another studio find through ClassPass! I signed up for the 6 p.m. Thursday Core Sweat class. Traffic was not cooperating so I was a little late but the instructor, Al Bee, was very accommodating and I only missed a couple minutes of the warm-up. I knew this studio offered reformer classes but I did not actually know what I had signed up for as I did not see a description of Core Sweat on their website, and on the ClassPass site it said to bring toe socks so I assumed it was a reformer class. It was not.
I would describe Core Sweat as cardio workout with resistance training. We started with a 9 minute treadmill warm up at various speeds with Al Bee checking our heart rates throughout. From there we moved to an upper and lower body TRX workout. I'm a big fan of TRX because no matter how many times I've taken it, I wind up doing exercises that are new to me, and TRX is as challenging as you want to make it so this class is great for all levels. Al Bee, of course, demonstrated each exercise and monitored form throughout. After the TRX portion we moved onto ab work utilizing a small weighted ball. To finish we did an AMRAP series of push ups, squat jumps, plank punches and burpees. This hour zoomed by and I felt like I got a really good cardio burn without the boredom of being on a piece of equipment.
This is a boutique studio so class sizes will be smaller, and there was only one other person in my class, but she just like Al Bee she was motivating and friendly.
