I had a very frustrating experience here. I called ahead of time to see what the process was for repairs. Was told to come drop off camera and they would call me in a couple of days with estimate. I walked 30min there in rain with cranky toddler to drop my camera off, and was told that you have to pay $25 in order to drop off your camera for an estimate. So you have to pay for an estimate. I explained that I was not told there was a fee. He stated that it is standard and common practice by companies like Sony, etc. He added that most people have no problem with it (rudely implying that I am cheap I guess). When asked how much they charge per hour for service and a general idea of how long it would take (FYI it was replacing a plastic cover on the LCD screen of a Canon Rebel) - he was unhelpful and said - well probably just an hour but hard to say... Well I should hope it does not take more than an hour to pop a piece of plastic off and put a new one on. My repair is the equivalent of replacing a cracked smart phone screen. At Apple in Eaton Cenre they did it for free in 10min - so I am thinking that charging $25 for an ESTIMATE may not be as standard of a practice as these guys think. But if Sony does it I guess it is free game. Trust me this place is like an ugly third cousin of Sony. Why would a local small business compare itself to Sony anyway. Anyways I digress. Then he says it may be hard to find the part and I may need to buy the entire new back panel. Meanwhile my baby is getting more cranky - she picks up on the jerky vibe. I tell him I will think about it. The access to the store is tricky with a stroller - large step up and heavy door with no accessible button to hold it open. So after leaving with my stroller and toddler on my hip - after he implies I am cheap for not wanting to pay him to see how big of an estimate he can rack up - my stroller tips over and my bag contents fall out. No big surprise he does come to help. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND AVOID - Rude, Unhelpful and Inaccurate business (and I am using that word loosely here).
