I attempted to go to the Toronto Muji store last night and was disappointed when they would not allow me to shop because their store window says they close at 5pm when in fact the 'Store Info' section on the website says they close at 6pm. The store manager told me to come back the next day at 10am and according to the store window, they always closed at 5pm on Sundays. She also said this is the first time she has heard anyone tell her that the information on their website is incorrect, insinuating that I should've known they closed at 5pm. There was no apology and she simply said that she will notify head office to correct the website. As a courtesy, I think she should have made an exception and allowed me to enter the store regardless.
It surprises me that the store manager assumes that either all her customers are regulars, or comes to take a look at the store window to check the hours before planning a trip to the store when it has only been open for 2-3 weeks and is still quite new.
It is very inconvenient for customers like me who come from outside the GTA just to visit Muji. It is the STORE MANAGER's responsibility to ensure that the website is up to date, and not to blame the customer for the store's mistake.
