Do yourself a favor. A huge, HUGE favor. DON'T buy a Volkswagen. Great cars, don't get me wrong. But Findley and Autoland have the industry monopolized here in Las Vegas and Henderson. CLIP JOINTS, both of them. Four convenient locations to find yourself being informed of work your car doesn't even need. Probably okay if you're buying a brand new or fully warranted vehicle. Some very decent, friendly courteous helpful people on staff. Seriously. But in the same breath i have to add there are a couple at least of really rotten eggs. Not "bad boys" but human beings that are just "no good." Period. Thieves. Lying, deceitful thieves. At least two I've come across. I found myself having to contact VW of America over the tactics employed by the dealerships here in the Las Vegas/Henderson area. That call yielded only more aggravation. They actually defend the business practices of their dealerships. Big problems? Want to tell it to the big guys upstairs? DON'T expect to get results. You're expectations won't be met. The bar is so low you can step over it without tripping. It will only further aggravate and infuriate you. It isn't worth the time. Not to insult anyone in particular, so put it this way. If I were to buy another VW, I would have to put myself in with a class of ignorant and complete idiots. You would NOT believe the experiences I have had with repair work at each and every location. One bad experience after another. One service I was told I needed was for $900. (Nine hundred) I got a 2nd outside opinion before going for it. Such a job was not necessary I DID need a wiper blade. They missed that somehow though. On another occasion for I was told of work I needed which would cost $3,000. , I didn't bother to get a 2nd outside opinion before going for it. I DID need a turn signal bulb. Would have been nice had they pointed that out before I left. They missed that somehow too. Needless to say neither the $3,000 or $900 job was necessary. JUST THE BELTS? MAYBE. Just maybe. But they wanted to do WAY more work than was necessary, to the tune of $3K & $900 respectively, "while they were in there because it's an expensive job, so why do it twice if it breaks?" I believe was the logic they try to sell you on. Too many of their service dept. people really take everybody as some kind of sucker. They really do. As a matter of preventive maintenance, both jobs would require most likely, at most two $65 dollar pulley belts, plus labor. A couple or a few hundred dollars TOPS. Not nine hundred dollars, not three thousand dollars, a few hundred maximum. There's more to tell about actually. A LOT more. I kid you not. I'm in a state of disbelief. I am beside myself. I am livid over more than just couple of their business practices. But I've wasted enough time on this myself. If you know little or nothing about cars, expect to be exploited. They will exceed your expectations. They WON'T let you down. I'm serious. If you are just going to lease or buy a new VW where repairs will cost you nothing, you'll no doubt be happy buying a VW. They ARE great cars. (Don't forget about the recall issue on the Diesels; although I'm not sure they'll even tell you about that.. Maybe they've been instructed not to. Who knows.) As for integrity...the folks in the Service Dept. have demonstrated some, but very little. It is beyond the control of most employees, but thus far management and even VW of America defends their dealerships practices, so that should tell you something. If you're thinking I have a personal beef with VW dealerships, I do, but only to the extent that, as I have pointed out, they have tried to soak me on more than one occasion. Car past warranty? SEARS can fix some, but not all problems and there's one guy there I'm not too sure about either. Not buying new or fully warranted, you'll most likely be sorry, very, VERY sorry: but chances are, you might not even know what hit you. Most people accept what they're told, nod their head up & down in naive agreement then pay for repairs or go home because they can't afford it, then leave thinking they'll need another car, then move on. Whatever. It's not worth the aggravation going to these people, but eventually your car will need maintenance of some kind. Unfortunately, it's a crap shoot as to who you can and cannot trust at these VW dealerships and there's only 2 with a total of 4 locations to get burned by. Not what one would expect. But these are the facts.. Good luck.
