Came back for dinner. Lunch is a far better value, but there are a lot of great things to be said for their izakaya-style dishes! From living in Japan, I think the way you are supposed to order at an izakaya is little by little, and ordering things as snacks to accompany drinking. However, I did not follow this method and ordered tapas-style. We ordered a ton and got super stuffed. I loved the skewers--I got a bunch of different kinds. The vegetable kushi skewers were actually the best, which I was super surprised about. Get the okra, asparagus and the onion. Onion was best! We tried the miso cheese, which was kind of weird. It is basically miso infused cream cheese. My boyfriend loved it though. Chawanmushi was okay, a little much since it arrived at the end of the meal. It was very salty. My boyfriend ordered the fish of the day...all I remember about it was it didn't taste very good and it was pretty darn expensive for the size (around $15, I'd say)? Staff was a little inattentive, which I was sad about. They seated all of the people who came in in the front section (I came around 5:30 p.m., which is super early). I would have rather sat in the side area with a view of the sushi bar, so I will ask for that next time.
