I remember walking through the Monte Carlo last year and was impressed with how "clean" the casino smelled. I know that sounds weird, but it left an impression. I decided this year I was going to stay there for a quick birthday long weekend. I really wanted to like this hotel but it just came up short with my expectations. I can see how this hotel was great in it's day and attempted to update, but it looks tired. The carpets in the hall are stained (not bad but very noticeable). Our room was fine for what a place to sleep - nothing really memorable about it. I reserved a "strip view" room but because the hotel sits so far back off the street, the view of the strip is somewhat limited (also because of the Mandarin next door towering over). The tint on our window was peeling off and unsightly. There was a used Q-tip on the floor near the desk left from the last people there that the housekeeper didn't see. I left it there and for 3 days, the housekeeper never picked up. There was also a used straw and a used tissue on the floor. Kind of hard to miss them, so I'm not sure what the housekeeper was doing. The next day, the housekeeper left her floor rag in our bathroom. One of the rooms down the hall from me apparently ordered vegetables w/ dip and the remains on the plate stayed in front of their door for 2 days. One of the biggest complaints I have is that there is only Wi-Fi on the first 2 floors of the hotel. All the other 30 floors have wired internet with an Ethernet cable. My new laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port so no internet for me. This day in age, who doesn't have Wi-Fi? I have to say that I really don't think I would come back given all the other options on the strip and with comparable pricing.
