Based on the reviews and my love of Soul food, I thought I would give Merts a try. While I loved the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant, I have to say I was disappointed with the food. I had the beef ribs, collards, and mashed potatoes. The ribs were fatty and tough, the mashed potatoes were average and my collards were served cold. No Bueno. My boyfriend had the salmon patties which he said were just ok. The only thing worthwhile was the cornbread that came with the meal. Must say its some of the best I had. Overall I was underwhelmed and disappointed. I hate to say that I feel that Merts is more hype than anything.
