I come here about once a month for family dinners and the food is always delicious, our usual dishes are shrimp with thousand island dressing, steamed oysters, steamed scallops, sweet & sour pork, duck feet, chicken with sticky rice inside. The quality is always consistent and when certain ingredients are not fresh or in season, they simply won't serve it! I love that all the dishes are accompanied by tons of greens such as broccoli or choy!
This place gets very busy on the weekends are standing/waiting space is very limited..so I suggest making reservations!
The restaurant itself is very dated and not very clean..but the quality food and reasonable prices clearly make up for the location and appearance. Maple Yip is located in a very sketchy plaza with limited parking on ground level..though there is an underground garage.
Additionally, a lot of items on the menu are special order..meaning you must place an order beforehand otherwise there isn't enough prep time or availability...such as the wintermelon soup or chicken with sticky rice inside!
