There are good and bad to the review.
The Good: Our salesperson was Brian Smith. He was easy to deal with, great communication and made the transaction smooth. Very transparent. I gave him one number and told him that was going to be my only offer and he made it work out, obviously it had to be a reasonable offer and not something ridiculous that the dealer was going to lose money on. Overall the whole sales team at Stouffville Hyundai was pretty friendly and I would recommend the sales team.
The Bad: Finance Manager - Joseph Rudnick; made my excellent buying experience go down the drain. Does not listen, rude, nor obey contract. Where to start... When I first placed the order for the Santa Fe Sport, I clearly told them the vehicle will be under my wife's name and we will be doing a plate transfer even though my wife was not with me to sign the initial documents. He said that is fine and we will write up new documents on delivery - this process is correct (contract even shows the plate transfer fee $14). But on delivery, the paper was not under my wife's name and he got us new plates - therefore the ownership document on delivery was not correct and Stouffville Hyundai had to get me new ownership for my plate transfer.
On the contract it says the vehicle will not exceed a maximum of 90km on the odometer (this is a new vehicle purchase), when I went to inspect the vehicle it had 251km! When I asked about it, he gave me a pretty BS answer considering I come from the industry. I know there will be some mileage from plant to shipping yard, then when landed in Canada, transport truck to dealer, and all new cars I have seen straight from the plant have no more than 20km on it (his answer was 100km). Yes, the car came from another dealer so there will be some mileage (but he said it will be flat-bedded it if was from a far dealer). Dealer will normally do a pre-delivery inspection which will put a few more mileage on, but seriously, a new car in this situation should not be over 100km. At the end of the conversation, he pretty much threatened us: take it or leave it, and if you don't want this car, we will find another random one and there is no guarantee on colour or features. It did not come off being polite in any way and did not compensate for the extra mileage, all he said was I can change the number on the contract to match the odometer. Seriously WTF. If we weren't in a situation where we needed an SUV asap, we would've just gotten up and left. My wife and I had never left a dealership this angry before.
Now back to the ownership. When you go to the Ministry and request for a new ownership document, it should take a few minutes and a new one will be printed. I insisted that I will come pick up the ownership document when ready but he insisted it will be mailed to my house. When I asked for a status update after 3 business days (email & phone), I got no answer back. Eventually I had to escalate this to General Manager, the other Finance manager, and Zanchin group just to get someone to give me an answer on the status of my ownership. Eventually Brian got back to me on it and we had to tell the Ministry that the ownership was "lost" to get a new document.
When I picked up the vehicle, this is the first time I have not seen an interior that was not detailed. It was pretty dusty inside, finger prints all over the trims and windows. I had to do a quick detail once I brought the vehicle home.
Overall disappointed with what could have been a very good experience at Stouffville Hyundai.
