It is absolutely hilarious to read the other reviews from other disgruntled travelers who had the pleasure (or displeasure) of visiting YYZ. (YYZ is the IATA code for this airport). I concur with them all! For a self-dubbed "world class" city, the great city of Toronto sure lacks an airport that can be compared to some of the best in the world. I've gone through LAX, ATL, HKG, SGN, OSL, MBJ, CUN just to name a few as of late. Of those listed, I would say ATL and HKG are two very good airports. Plenty of things to do while waiting for your next flight, friendly staff, plenty of eateries and shops, and most importantly, signs that are intuitive for the international travelers to read and comprehend! Unfortunately, YYZ does not compare. While ultra-clean and sleek at last, the place seemed almost abandoned as it's just so spacious - lacking amenities that makes traveling a pleasure. Getting from one terminal to another, or from one checkpoint to another is a tedious walk. People movers escalators that is not working half the time. The worst of sins is there is no direct public transportation system to and from downtown Toronto or any downtown for that matter. The nearest major city is Mississauga, home to 800,000 suburbanites where YYZ is a part of. As of this writing, there are plans in place to build some kind of light rail system from downtown Toronto to YYZ, and Mississauga has built dedicated bus lanes only from their major hub of Square One shopping mall to the airport. It's only taken more than 2 decades for the administrators of YYZ to finally try and bring it into the 21st century. A welcoming relief that can't come soon enough. When traveling through YYZ, bring lots of patience and a map. You're going to need it!
