It's just very OK sushi. Mediocre. It's where I sometimes drop in for takeout when I'm having a cravings for sushi and my girlfriends and I can't get together to go to O-Ku (Which is amazing BTW if you've never been GO, they have half off sushi Mon & Wed from 5-7 too! Best sushi in town). The rolls here have WAY too much rice, making the pieces GIANT. I have to half them (annoying). I end up picking off about 50% of the rice (why are you overloading me with unnecessary white flour carbs?!LOL) Any of the fried rolls I've gotten are the kind that are overly battered, not subtly flash fried like some other great places. Ick. When I go here, I stick with the basic rolls, cali, scorpion, japanese bagel, etc. I don't so specialty rolls here after the fried ones I tried that weren't good.
One thing that really ticked me off this past time was this new $2 "service charge" they're throwing on AFTER THEY SWIPE YOUR CREDIT CARD and without telling you on takeout orders. Wait what??? I don't tip on takeout, sorry. Putting my food in a bag straight from the chef who is salaried does not entitle you to a tip. That's ridiculous. I don't know who this charge goes to whether that be the sushi chefs or the bartenders bagging my food but get real. As little as $2 is and I don't care about it honestly, I won't miss $2 from my bank account, it's just dishonest SNEAKY business practices like this that erk me to the point where I'm not coming back. Let me explain how this went down, and this is a new thing they're doing BTW.
I went to pick up my order, I got 3 rolls, my total was like $19.50 or something. I checked over my receipt, that was the grand total after taxes. So, I handed over my credit card. When I was given the receipts for my signature, there was a "Srv Chrg" on it. See attached picture. So basically they charged me some fee, after my credit card was swiped, without telling me.
This should have been disclosed when I placed my order and ESPECIALLY before I paid for it. This is a principle thing to me, it's BS. If they would have said to me on the phone, "Okay great, that'll be ready in 20 minutes and just so you know there is a $2 srv charg fee for xyz on takeout orders now." I would have been like, oh..okay whatever. But they said nothing, just tacked it on my bill without saying a word. That's just unacceptable. And no, it doesn't say anywhere on their online menu that there's a fee for takeout either.
I tried to mark through the $2 charge and wrote my total as $19.50 and they still charged me the fee when I looked at my credit card statement. I may dispute the $2 to prove a point. I just really can't stand stuff like this. Biggest pet peeve ever, probably because I'm a super honest person and I despise dishonesty.
For this reason, I will not be back. I'll find another mediocre sushi place to grab my takeout from. There are plenty.
Pros: The manager or owner is very friendly and welcoming. Sorry to write this review guy, but you gotta know that what y'all are doing, isn't ethical.
