Had my eye on this place when it first opened as a new business not too long ago and was not able to go try this place out until today. Parked to find a packed line that went way out the door, which I found most surprising. As such, packed line out the door = long wait (at least 30 minutes, roughly 40 minutes in all). As for this place, there are three options: you can choose from one of the presets on the menu, one of three specials that they have/rotate each day, or you can make your own by choosing either vanilla or chocolate ice cream and three toppings to go along with your Thai-style ice cream roll treat. The price? $7 + tax = $7.49, making it roughly on par if not a little more expensive with prices found with similar joints in NYC. Now as for the result? Relatively disappointing. For one, the ice cream was heavily Americanized. With similar joints that I had tried in NYC, I could tell the ice cream at these places were definitely lighter and distinct which is roughly in line with lighter flavor/style of ice cream found in the motherland (Thailand). Also, seeing as this is a relatively premium price to be paying for one cup of ice cream, I would have appreciated it more were I given more toppings to at least justify it a little more. I did add back a star due to the person making it being kind and offering to add more than what was mentioned in the preset option on the menu. Overall though, this place is a bit overrated and quite a fad seeing as it's the only one of its kind in Pittsburgh. Hopefully it gets better with time though ... would like to see it be similar in quality/style to 10Below in NYC.
