The way these doctors bill you and take advantage of your illness is beyond my understanding. I brought my wife in late one night because of food poisoning. She saw a few nurses, they gave her a shot, and she was out in 20 min. Yes, she does not have health insurance. These nurses billed her $843 for 20 min of their time, and in addition to that, Southern Hills charged close to $900 for the use of their facilities. That's almost $2000 for a 20 min ER visit. I know most may say that we should have had health insurance next time, but it is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS to take advantage of a patient this way, and charge these outrageous fees for what was such a simple and short visit. We obviously can't afford to pay this. Our experience with Southern Hills Medical just confirms everything there is wrong with our health care system.....you are afraid to go to the ER if you are uninsured because of the ridiculous amount of money these doctors feel like charging you. Beware.
