I have been staying here regularly for the last 50 years, since it was the Sheraton and the Kon Tiki was downstairs. I stayed once again two weeks ago for some friends' 39th anniversary. It was kind of sad. The carpets in the elevator which used to be changed daily ("Have a great Monday") were now generic. The conference restrooms near the garage entrance were obviously used frequently by the homeless. The coffee shop is gone. The service at the lobby bar was indifferent. The halls needed vacuuming. It's a huge hotel built back in the day when Cleveland was a bustling hub of commerce. It just can't be sustained by the present level of commerce in downtown Cleveland. I hope the casino can revitalize this landmark or I fear Marriott will throw in the towel.
