In 2011, this was a 1st-rate music festival. We were there for 3-days and caught Papa Grows Funk, Anders Osborne, and Nola Jam consisting of Anders Osborne, Cyril Neville, James Andrews, Big Chief Monk (suited in feathers), Billy Iuso, Eric Bolivar, & Walter Wolfman Washington. If you went to New Orleans Jazz fest to see this line-up you would be sitting 100 yards away as these are among the top artists from this region. Here we were in the front row. I love Anders new album, as many of the tracks remind me of Adrian Belew's vocals and guitar work that pushes boundaries beyond what you expect to find in southern rock. The covers they did "Fire on the Mountain" and "Ohio" displayed guitar virtuosity equal to the Dead and Neil Young respectively, but with fresh personal styles. James Andrews trumpet added a unique richness to arrangements. The range of type of music represented a wide range of vintages and styles. As far as food, we liked the gumbo and the Jamaican chicken best, they were both so flavorful.
