3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Was still full from earlier so only tried the things on the menu that I usually like best. Beef noodle soup (with half beef half tendon): the wide, thick hand-cut noodles were very Q (chewy). Broth was flavorful and mildly spicy. Tendon was hit or miss (some were too hard, others were nice and soft and melt-in-your-mouth). Beef was a bit too dry for my taste. But those noodles were quite good and the flavor was good. Skewers were small for the price but the flavor was okay. We had the beef tongue and the chicken "organs." Not sure which organs. Service was friendly and polite, though when we arrived there was no one at front of house and some regulars(?) at one of the tables had to shout repeatedly for him to hear and come out from the back. We had a chuckle about this, and thought it was nice of the other people to help out the (presumably) owner. Didn't try the pan-fried dumplings because I am not a fan of this style dumpling, with the open ends and the batter lattice spiderwebbing them together in the pan. Also didn't try the hot pot since this type of hot pot is also less interesting to me. Fairly clean, interesting decor for this level establishment. Don't know about the restroom. The biggest downer was the poor male betta fish in a small unheated, unfiltered betta bowl (though these are marketed for bettas, they are actually cruel - just because a betta _can_ tolerate such conditions doesn't mean it _should_ - I've never kept a betta in anything smaller than a 10 gallon tank with a proper filter and heater). Unrelated: we were engrossed by this Chinese TV show that seemed to be mixing a lot of genres together. Must try to find out what it was.
