There is a real shortage of breakfast places in the South Charlotte/Ballantyne area. Breakfast being my favorite meal of the day, I was in search of a regular spot. Skillets, so far is the best I have found! They have great food, and are always packed. If you go, you must try their namesake. The skillets potatoes are awesome, so cheesey and good, and the best is when they have a little bit of a crispy crust around the edges. My only complaint would be that the service can be kind of lacking. Orders have been slightly wrong a few times, but not too far off, and it can take a while for the wait staff to check on you. I think there has been maybe one or two times that the waitress has been what I would call acceptable in her level of competence. But you really shouldn't let that stop you from going, just be aware and be patient. The prices are decent, I am used to old mom and pop places where you can still get coffee for 75 cents and a simple egg toast and bacon breakfast for around 3 dollars, but for the location in pretentious ballantyne, I guess they are reasonable. Overall, Skillets is the best down home breakfast place in the South Charlotte area. I personally go every Sunday.
