I've been going to Joe's for a few years now. I'm out in Gilbert once a week, so I always make it a point to go there. Everyone is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. It feels like a sit-down place, from the seating to the fact that they bus your table (that took a lot of getting used to at first).
Anyway, they smoke their meats with pecan wood and it really does add a flavor that you don't get in other establishments. I'm a brisket person, so I usually order a jumbo sandwich (1/3 pound) with sliced brisket, and sides of mac and cheese and corn. Sometimes, I'll get a slice of lemon cake. It's always good, though sometimes the meat is a little better than others. Very consistent, but there can be those times when it seems a bit dry, etc. It's not often, though.
For drinks, they have all sorts of bottled sodas and a good fountain that also has their own root beer. I had it once just to try and taste the difference, but I prefer having an Arnold Palmer, so I go with that.
I really do enjoy the place. The only negatives in my mind are that they don't have corn on the cob and that the place is always so busy! I've been lucky recently in that I've been missing the lunch rush. They get through the line quick, though.
I go every week and will continue to do so when in the area.
