Nestled in the California-esque neighborhood of Green Valley, Mothership brings a fresh addition to the recently emerging Las Vegas coffee scene.
Mothership is a roaster and espresso bar brought by the makers of Sunrise Coffee, a local favorite in the southeast area. The venue itself is fairly small, with two slim tables with 4 stools each. It's clear that this is not the place you set up your laptop and work on homework for 3 hours.
The menu is fairly simple, which your typical coffee shop fare - espresso, macchiato, lattes, etc. However, the star of the show is definitely their cold brew on nitro. Well-rounded flavor achieved from 24 hours of brewing! I had a shot of their espresso (made with African beans, not their usual) and it was one of the better shots I've had in Vegas. The lattes that my friends got seemed a tad on the foamy side, more like a giant cappuccino.
They also have house-made baked goods, which look amazing. I did not order any, but what little bits I tasted of my friends' I found either too dry or too sweet. Baked goods were never my favorite anyway.
The decor is a good balance between hipster and modern. The color scheme remains light and the layout is very minimal and clean. I nearly had an eyegasm when I saw the deer mural! So pretty.
The service was my favorite kind - friendly but casual. The employees were able to complete their tasks while conversing with customers and answering any questions thrown their way. Knowledge of the craft is refreshing to see!
It's a bit of a drive for me to visit Mothership, but if I'm in the area I would definitely pop by for a shot of espresso and good vibes.
