So this place has been bookmarked on my Yelp account for the longest time. Last week we just happened to be in the area (which is rare) so I jumped at the opportunity to give this place a try. The joint was filled and had a 20+ min wait for restaurant seating. Since patience is not one of my virtues, we decided to sit at the bar. The hostess gladly seated us at the bar and were quickly handed off to our waiter. No complaints on the staff at all. We got great service and honest opinions on what to get when asked. Similar to my theory about Juan's.. If they have a dish in their name; you get the dish. So naturally we got nachos. We decided on the tostada nachos (strongly recommended by our server) and the filet mignon quesadilla. The mignon quesadilla was the first thing to come out. It was a dcent portion but man it was greasy. Taste like the deep fried quesadillas like from On the Border. Just too much grease to be able to enjoy it without keeling over from artery blockage. Price/portion wise this is a killer deal! The pan was loaded to the brim with overflowing colors of ingredients. The chips were toasted nicely and the dish was heated thoroughly, no cold spots in the middle (I hate that!). I was not a big fan of the queso/velveeta-esque cheese sauce.I was almost like watery 7-11 pump cheese. I would have preferred if it was just shredded cheese. It was tolerable when mixed with the rest of the toppings but when it was by itself it was blah. The dish was not bad but I would have enjoyed it much more without the "cheese sauce".. To me, the best part of the nachos were the hidden bits of the Serrano chiles in the salsa that kicked my taste buds ninja style. I wish I could have had the salsa and chips by itself. I really wanted to love this place but it was a bit too greasy and the queso/velveeta-esque cheese sauce was a buzzkill for me. I don't think that we are done with this place as we have yet to try the wild side of the menu. I just know that the next time we come I will request for just shredded cheese on the nachos. Stay tuned...
