I had the 5" Strawberry Yuzu cake for a small birthday celebration, and I am on the fence on whether it was comical or disappointing. Let's start with size. Their website says it serves 6-8 people, and that is complete BS... Yes, you can slice it into 6-8 pieces but they are bite-sized slices, hardly what I would call a 'serving'. It looked so tiny that I actually took a ruler out to measure it. I can now confirm that it was exactly 5", so maybe I should have visualized what a 5" cake would look like instead of taking their word for it. Even then, the cake was definitely not worth $30 given the size and the quality. Next, quality. There seemed to be an extra layer from what was described on their website. The website outlined the following 3 components: strawberry mousse, yuza cremeux, and vanilla sponge cake. Somehow when I was eating the cake there was what seemed like a layer of frozen strawberry jam. They used FROZEN STRAWBERRIES, and it definitely was not to enhance the flavours or the texture of the cake. It just didn't work. The sponge cake layer was also a bit dry. The strawberry mousse and the yuza cremeux weren't bad. Overall it wasn't a terrible tasting cake, but it also wasn't spectacular. The cake otherwise looked very nice. They did spell the name incorrectly, but they fixed it without a fuss and very quickly. They don't get any extra props for that though because they made a mistake so it is their responsibility to fix it. TL;DR: I paid too much money for a tiny cake that had a mediocre taste.
