The mother of views and the mother of bills on...Mothers day. Honestly I though I would be blown away. The food is good solid and sometimes wonderful, but nothing made me beg for more. Here we go: Inside is dark as usual, keeping in theme with every expensive restaurant. My theory is people dont want to see each other? Inside is damn depressing: outside seating is a must even if you have to wait. Luckily even with a reservation we only waited 30 minutes when told may be up to 90. Complimentary bread=sadly, CPK, yes Calif pizza kitchen has much better bread. Excited to see pretzel bread, but quickly extinguished when I felt the texture ( not stale or fresh, kinda like Nicolas Cage movies). The best in there was the sourdough, but none were really warm or crispy. Which fool dissects comp bread in a food review? This muthafucka right here, take it or leave it. Ok...ordered 4 appetizzies, only 1 was borderline heavenly, and thats the salmon sushi rice cakes. This is a terrific appetizer. The asparagus with mushrooms: great asparagus, mushrooms were too salty. Wedge salad with bacon= standard good, could use more dressing and more bacon instead of just one long strip on top. Crab cake= was pretty good, only ONE for $22 bucks. Most of these are in the 20 to 25 bucks range. Main dishes: Wife and I had the scallops; they are HUGE I will give them that; 4-5 massive pieces the size of yams. It was quite good but...not the best Ive had. Bok choy was crisp and good (dont like the wilted ends but the roots.) I almost went to tears as 2 giant pieces were left cause we were stuffed, and last night I checked the rooms arent equipped with scallop fridges to take home back to L.A. (too bad) Son had the lamb chops, there were good....but again not close to the best Ive had or even in the top 5, maybe cracks the 10. Lovely plating and presentation on all dishes however. Fountains...I am over it the first time I saw it like 20 years ago, but if youre into that sorta thing and want to see them so close the mist hits the hairs or your forearms, this is the place. I was distracted by a silver- haired 70's white man and Asian "night worker" 20-30 years to the younger engage in deep conversation, not touching their steaks and having 3/4 of each doggie bagged. Bizarre sex props? Hey, its the LV.
