Well, who does like going to a dentist? I definitely do not. So with some caution and a lot of anxiety, I scheduled an appointment. I have to say that the front end people were amazing. Mary was kind, listened to my explanation regarding my fear, anxiety and such without ever making her smile or personality fade. These days in healthcare, it is hard to keep the philosophy of "treat the patient, not the diagnosis" alive when it's all about reimbursement. Next I encountered Jessica in X-ray. Again, someone who made me feel like a person and not a medical record. Knowing my anxiety, she moved along with ease, never dropping a beat with her lively conversation and using a re-affirming tone that things will be ok. That was greatly appreciated. The MD treated me with a smile and set up an action plan to help me restore confidence in my smile. Why is this important? Because after over 30 years in healthcare, I've seen it all when it comes to treating patients. This was a pleasant surprise. Why 4 stars? Because I haven't experience the procedure process yet, but if it turns out as well as this has, it will be changed. Let's hope the internets nickname of "the drive though of dental care" doesn't rear that ugly head. I have hopes and realistic expectations.
